Aim/Objective/Mission : Vikasa Rural Development Organisation (acronomy vikasa) is a non government developmental organisation established in 1992 under the karnataka state societies registration act, working in the development field for the past 16 years. The major focus of the organization being the issues of education for children, women empowerment, capacity building to improve the socio-economic condition of resource poor women and men living in both rural and urban areas for participatory watershed development, skill development and initiating various socio economic, vocational and health activities, training and micro insurance finance activities, for the welfare and development of rural and urban disadvantaged sectors covering 12 districts of karnataka. The organization strongly believes in participatory as well as bottom up approaches. Vision the organization vision is to work progressively to improve the livelihood status of rural and urban poor through both non-farm (entrepreneurship development) and farming activities, towards self-sustenance through people?s participation mission plan and implement or join hands with government, donors, non-government and other such bodies for implementing, development projects programmes that operationalize our vision to awaken, organize, and strengthen the target families communities with total capacities to manage their own development with ecologically sustainable development as a central theme of the development process. Objectives provide formal and non-formal educational facilities for the needy people. Enable the rural communities particularly the weaker section to design and implement programme so as to achieve sustainable development. Create awareness against exploitative nature of existing social order and to work towards an alternative society with social justice and human dignity. Organize rural women and enable them to spearhead development activities in order to eradicate social evil and bring natural justice. Integrate sustainable livelihood improvement programmes through participatory approach. Organize rural mass to form community based organization (cbos) culminating into the federation of women (shgs) to manage their resources. Promote, guide, undertake, maintain and co-ordinate projects and programmes at community level to make them socially and environmentally aware and active for their development and self-governance.
