This rare temperature region in the Indian sub-continent draws about 70 per cent of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from the surrounding ecological resources Livelihood of more than 75 per cent Kashmiris is dependent on horticulture, agriculture and handicrafts with the raw material for these being mostly drawn from the natural environment itself.
