Aim/Objective/Mission : The mission of this sangh is to solve the problem of the orphan / destitute children and to help them to get their rights. Maharashtra state is a developed state. In this state due to social, natural and accidental calamities thousands of children are being orphaned. For such children government with the social groups (ngo) help these children for their overall development. But government provides this help only till the age of 18 yrs for such children. With the aim of helping this children to relocate themselves after the age of 18 yrs we have formed the group called ekta nirdhar sangh for helping these children. The core members of this organization are the people who themselves have gone through the same problems faced by these children. We as a group would like to guide these children regarding the problem faced in life after the stay in the institution so that they can have a better life than us and can fight the problems with our help once these children are out of the institution after the age of 18 yrs. They don t get a house to stay in due to which they don t get a ration card and can t do the voting. They also can t open an account in the bank. As they are being raised in the institution due to which these children don t know their full name, their caste or their proper age due to which they can t avail to the opportunities given by the government. The government helps these children till the age of 18 by then children have either finished their 10th or 12th examinations. With these children don t avail for a good job. So we would like the institutions to provide these children with some technical training which can help these children to get a secure job.

Purpose : Advocacy On Social Issues, Disability, Education, Mentally Handicapped Persons, Rehabilitation, Research, Social Awareness To Implement Various Schemes For Rehabilitation, Education and Development Of Mentally, Physically Challenged Persons In Society.
Aim/Objective/Mission : Maitra foundation every person in our society should be able to grow optimum according to his/her abilities. For this we need our society to be inclusive, the aim of maitra foundation is to help ourselves and the people around us in stepping forward towards making of inclusive society where downs can leave happily and give their best for the society. Even within the limitations in intellectual abilities downs can learn and serve society if an early intervention and right training is provided. Maitra foundation is initiating threefold action plan to move in this direction. Happy home for downs (anandghar) : this home is a little bit extended family of downs where their limitations will be accepted, the abilities will be realized. Efforts are being taken to create space for them where they can enjoy living together, working together as per their abilities and likings and experiencing caring & sharing. The most critical issue for the parents of downs is the provision of reliable support system for the future of the child. We are looking forward to come up with a better model of such support system through this project. Sensitization of parents & society : it is observed that most of the parents are not ready to accept their own down child. Some of them are too hopeful regarding the development of the child and the only criteria of development for them is passing school exams. Some of them are totally pessimistic and underestimate the child s abilities. In both the cases the growth of child s abilities is at stake. Maitra foundation is trying to work for the attitudinal change in patents as well as in society. For this in spite of providing information through sensitization programs, workshops, meetings, discussions we are planning to enrich the parents to handle all possible information sources, to verify the information and apply it with understanding. Research activities : we are planning to organize research programs focusing on identification of the needs of parents and their downs children, living in rural area, starting with solapur district in maharashtra. Their problems and difficulties can be understood in the context of social environment in which they have been brought up and bringing up their children. The researchers need to be oriented in qualitative and participatory research methods. We are planning to collaborate with social work and education colleges where some of the eligible students will be oriented in this direction and many research projects will be undertaken with their participation. These long term and organized efforts will enable us to come up with valid data. This data and findings will help us to ask government for necessary change in the policies and draw schemes especially for downs. This will also direct our further efforts towards inclusive society.
