Purpose : Child Welfare, Rural Development, Social Awareness.
Aim/Objective/Mission : Education is not preperation for life, it is life itself? kartavya is an effort by college students for upliftment of underprivileged sections of the society. This can be realized by providing them quality education, vocational training and health care. Our basic aim is to provide free education to students which come from families which are under bpl. Starting from a small group of students, teaching in a mandir in a slum, now it is a registered ngo with five centers in dhanbad itself. Apart from two-hours evening tuitions to around 500 students, we also sponsor 300 children going to good private schools for formal education. We also have sdc(skill development classes) where we focus on developing co-curricular skills like dancing, drama, painting, poetry, sports, etc. The idea is to build an interactive environment so that children can freely discuss their problems with us and we can try to solve them on our level. Health camp in the village/slum is organized to identify the prevalent diseases and necessary measures are taken accordingly. General awareness programs among the parents regarding child care, family planning, govt. Schemes, sanity and health care, early marriage, balanced diets etc. Are conducted regularly by our team members. A special team dedicated to prepare these children according to current trends of world. As computer and english speaking is most significant for the children to cope up with the competitive world. Once the guardians realize that education is very important part of life, we extend the education for them. Also vocational training is provided to ladies and young grown-up boys and girls to make them self-employed and self-sustained. We aim to make them self-sustained so that they can lead an independent life and make informed decisions. Once this is achieved, we will close these centers and open other centers with same aim in other localities.
