Aim/Objective/Mission : Jakheshwar shikshan sansthan (jss) is an effort which emerged from chipko movement and works for community empowerment, conservation of forest and other natural resources, bringing awareness among the community for environmental issues. Providing opportunity and awareness with regard to income generation of the disadvantaged community of the society. Apart from that it also plans to work for providing learning as a means to awareness, such that learning may lead to an open window, an access to a better life especially for the women of the self help groups (shgs) formed under various projects like swayamsidha, aajeevika pariyojana (ifad), agribusiness and etc. In the district of chamoli, uttaranchal.organization’s activities are not focused toward single direction but also in different areas such as environmental issues, solid waste management, conservation of natural resources and rational use of natural resources, strengthening woman and community based shgs, agricultural and social developmental issues,to improve livelihood of local people by adding them to their resources. As uttaranchal is known as a money order economy so organization is working for the self dependency of the local people. For last three decades under the different awareness programs organization is conducting different kind of awareness programme and activities among the community for health related issues, nutrition, children and maternal health, woman empowerment, empowerment of panchayat raj institution and other hot social issues as per their perspective, perception and infrastructure.organization has good and own infrastructure for training and other related programs.organization’s ashram (training center) is situated at sagar village situated 3 km. Away from gopheshwar where 300 participants can take part together in a good and pleasant atmosphere and all required means like furniture, vcd/dvd, computer, lcd, projector and other required accessories are available there.organization has very rich experience in all respective such as professional training for woman and youth to generate the livelihood opportunities by getting different kind of exposure.organization is broadly working with community under different project. Swayamsidha, himalayi aajded byeevika sudhar karyakram from ifad, nrega and rti under prc, by harc, agri business by harc, tsc, disaster management, kopal pariyojna, sarva siksha abhiyan, women shg funded by nabard in pokhari block, and time to time training workshop for sensitization of woman for children right, children education, woman violence and other workshop for agricultural development with farmers. As agriculture is the main activity of the villagers organization arrange time to time exposure visit to the farmers to strengthen their ideas.organizational vision/ Mission development and empowerment of community based organizations (cbos) based on the local resources. Objective of organization : to increase food security by ensuring environmental, ecological & social security. Economic empowerment of women based on local resources. Strengthening network of community based organizations like van panchayats, self help groups, mahila mangal dals, yuvak mangal dals, gram improving access of women to micro-credit and bank linkages involvement of women in local level planning and convergence of services of dwcd and other department.
