Purpose : Social Work.
Aim/Objective/Mission : Working area preferred: rural infrastructure development: basic infrastructure is another one of major factor affecting development of the rural community. The achievement of the govt. In the sector is impressive. However, despite this remarkable achievement, there is still big scope and need to work in the area. Women development: the process of development leads to be enhanced and is more possible if development activities are made women centered, because women have more perseverance, sincerity and responsibility for overall development of the family. This need focused and determined efforts for awareness amongst women, reduction of drudgery, promotion of agro-based and alternative income opportunities, credit at low interest rate and permanent income sources, leading to improved economical status. Improved economical status will further initiate social, educational & health development. Awareness and capacity building: the democratic values and social structure can only be maintained if the community is organized and village institutions are recognized and strengthened. The village institutions such as self help groups, panchayat, user s groups, mahila mandals, yuvak mandal gram sabha, etc. Needed to strengthen through various efforts like awareness campaigning, exposure training etc. Village selection and village approach methodology: in the maharashtra state there are lot off villages which are socio-economically backward due to degraded natural resources, lower education level, lack of awareness, lack of infrastructure.organization intervenes on philosophy that its exit from the area the day it starts its activity. Initial programmers in the villages creation of awareness: a comprehensive awareness and mobilization (iec campaign) is the first step. The creation of awareness is a process by which the community analyses the existing situation in the area/village. This has to be generated through a dialogue within the community. This can be undertaken through various iec methods and interactive exercises. Participatory rural appraisal (pra) pra has been found to be extremely useful in creating this awareness among the community due to its two main objectives-it is participatory in nature by which all sections of the community, even the marginal groups, can actively participate in the analysis; secondly, it is visual in character, which makes it possible for even the illiterate to be part of the process. Exposure visits. Exposure visits are useful to motivate the people, as they see changes made and hear about them from other people similar to their situation-this is similar to the farmer-to-farmer extension so successful used in agriculture.
